How to choose and book airplane seats

Every airline has its own rules and ways of buying and booking a seat on an airplane. This can be done: during or after the purchase of tickets, as well as at check-in. In the first two cases, you can book a seat on board the plane using the official websites of the companies, their sales offices, call centers, mobile applications or agencies. If you purchase seats during check-in, it’s simple here too: do it during online check-in or at the counter in the airport building.

For most people, the choice of seat on the airplane remains the same each time they fly, just like the side of the bed they like to sleep on. The subtleties vary slightly from airline to airline, but we’ll cover the common ones. Let’s start with the standard seats, which you can buy or book on your airline’s website – a window seat allows you to watch the scenery unfolding, and you won’t be disturbed by anyone. To move freely during the flight, it is better to prefer the aisle seat, and then you will not have to disturb anyone. And the seat in the middle will allow you to communicate with your fellow travelers.

In addition, airlines provide an opportunity to book in the airplane seats of increased comfort, which are most often located either on the first row of economy class, or at the emergency exits. The advantages of such seats on board are obvious, as they have more legroom. On average, the additional distance between the rows is 25 cm. And, of course, you will get even more comfort from the business class seats, where you will find wide seats and legroom (the distance between the rows is about 89 cm).
